Iron and Wine, Joan As Policewoman, Steve Earle, Sun, Wilco: Canadians Roll Out Amazing Artists For Vancouver Olympics

October 13th, 2009 | Tags:

Though an Olympics is meant to showcase athletic excellence, there’s nothing that says the games have to be the only show in town. The 2010 games, to be held in Vancouver from February 12-28, will feature a lineup of artists so good that missing the curling final won’t seem like such a loss. Joining Canadians Broken Social Scene will be Steve Earle, Wilco, Iron and Wine, Joan As Policewoman and Sun Kil Moon. Though it’s cool enough that these artists will be playing the Olympics, it would be much better if they could be integrated into the competition. Maybe every country has to have at least one indie musician as ballast on their bobsled, or all couples skating must involve Steve Earle as one of the partners. That would be inspiring on a whole other level. [Consequence of Sound]
